To mark the opening of the famed Grossglockner High Alpine Road in Austria and the ‘F.A.T. Mankei’ – F.A.T. International’s popular destination, featuring a restaurant, cafe, accommodations and a meeting place for all motor sport fans from across the globe – Porsche Design has developed a special textile/leather ‘Mankei strap’ for the coveted Chronograph 1 Utility – Limited Edition in recognition of the place where petrol heads and members of the F.A.T. community come together. The Mankei strap is an exclusive addition to the existing set including the slate grey ‘Bund’-strap and the white ‘Ice Race’- strap.

The new Chronograph 1 Utility – Limited Edition sees titanium carbide being used for the first time, a material that was developed and patented by Porsche Design, making the case of the timepiece even tougher, more scratch-resistant, and lighter. Where Tritium was used in the past, blue Super-LumiNova® is used today, which guarantees optimal readability, especially in the dark. The Porsche Design caliber WERK 01.240 ensures maximum precision and, thanks to its flyback function, it is now also possible to measure back-to-back times.

The new edition’s design, especially the matte-black dial, is of course still reminiscent of the icon from the 1970s and continues to provide optimal readability. The dial of the Military Chronograph displayed the tiger’s head of the respective unit, matching the flying squadron. Today, this can be found, reinterpreted, in the form of a yelling “Mankei”. The “Mankei” icon is based on the Pinzgau term for marmots and refers to the cooperation with F.A.T. International and their “Mankei” location on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road.

To emphasize the exclusivity of this limited edition, the case back features an engraving with the “Mankei” as well as the “Chronograph 1 Utility Edition” lettering – accompanied by the limitation number XX/250.
